CG General (“we”, “us”) is operated by Muhammad Haris Saleem, trading as The Fridge, United Kingdom. Contact: support@cggeneral.net.
Summary
CG General is a suite of add-ons for Blender. Triage's diagnostic checks run entirely on your own computer. When you request an AI consultation from Lighting Doctor, images of your scene and a structured summary are sent to our backend and on to Anthropic's Claude to generate lighting advice. Your .blend file is never uploaded.
What we collect
Account data: your email address, top-up balance, credit balance, account created and updated dates, newsletter preference, whether you accepted these terms, and lifetime credit totals.
Lighting Doctor consultations. When you request an analysis, we send:
Images
- the rendered image of your scene, at fixed internal quality settings
- a solid-shaded viewport capture showing your material colours under generic studio lighting
- on follow-up consultations, the previous image and the previous advice, for continuity
Scene information
- the names you have given your objects and materials, exactly as you typed them. If you name objects after a client, product or unreleased project, those names are sent.
- each object's position and approximate size, whether it is visible to the camera, and how much of the frame it occupies
- your scene's overall bounds, floor and ceiling heights
- light settings: type, position, direction, energy, colour, size, shape and shadow settings
- camera position, orientation and field of view
- world and background settings, and emissive material information
- colour management settings and measured brightness statistics of the render
- a short text description of the scene generated by the add-on
Triage. Its diagnostic checks run entirely on your computer. If you request AI Insights, only the check results are sent, a check identifier, a severity, an object name where relevant, and numeric values. No images and no free text are sent from Triage.
Diagnostic logs. Only created if you switch on diagnostic logging, and stored only on your own computer. They are never sent to us automatically.
Feedback you send us. If you use the Send Feedback button in Preferences, you are choosing to send us a bundle of your diagnostic logs so we can help with a specific problem. This is never automatic, you see exactly which files and how many megabytes will be sent, and nothing leaves your computer until you confirm. A bundle can include: rendered images of your scene, the same object and material names described above, the AI's advice for that pass, anything you type in the optional message box, and some basic technical details, your Blender version, the add-on version, and your operating system name. This goes to our backend only. We do not forward it to Anthropic or submit it through any AI feedback mechanism. Submitting feedback also triggers an internal email alert to our own team so we notice it quickly, see Resend below.
We never send: your .blend file, your models or textures as files, any filename or file path, image paths, your computer's username, or your Blender preferences.
Payments
You buy the add-ons through Lemon Squeezy, and Lemon Squeezy processes your payment as the merchant of record. We never receive your full card details.
Who else processes your data
Anthropic (Claude), receives Lighting Doctor consultation data to generate advice. We use Claude as a commercial API customer.
- Anthropic states that by default it does not use inputs or outputs from its commercial products, including the Anthropic API, to train its models.
- Anthropic deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, except where a separate agreement applies, where retention is needed to enforce its Usage Policy, or where required by law.
- If content is flagged by Anthropic's automated safety systems as violating its Usage Policy, it may be retained for up to 2 years, and classification scores for up to 7 years.
We do not submit your content to Anthropic as feedback, and the API we use provides no mechanism to do so.
Supabase, our backend: database, sign-in and file storage. Hosted in London, United Kingdom (eu-west-2).
Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor and merchant of record. Handles checkout, receipts, and refunds for your purchase.
Resend, sends transactional email alerts to our own team, not to you. When you submit feedback, a copy of your email address and message passes through Resend to reach our inbox. Our internal fraud-monitoring system also emails itself through Resend, but that alert contains only an internal account reference and numbers, never your email address or message. We do not use Resend to email you directly.
How long we keep your data
Anthropic: deleted within 30 days, with the exceptions above.
Our backend, in two stages:
- After 90 days: the AI's response and all rendered images are permanently deleted.
- After 6 months: the entire consultation record is permanently deleted.
- Between those points the record still contains the scene information described above, including object and material names, but no images and no advice text.
Account data is kept while your account exists.
Feedback you send us is kept for 90 days, then permanently deleted in full, images, scene information and your message together, all at once. This is shorter and simpler than the consultation schedule above because a feedback bundle exists only to help us fix a specific problem, and because it is the most sensitive thing we ever store.
Redeemed codes, licence keys, and order records. Whichever way your Consultations were credited, a self-issued code, a licence key, or an automatic credit from a Lemon Squeezy order or subscription, the code, key, or order record is kept permanently, even after a refund or account deletion, specifically to stop the same one being used twice. The raw payment notification we receive from Lemon Squeezy for that purchase, which can include your name, email and card brand/last 4 digits, follows its own shorter schedule: redacted after 90 days, and the record of the notification itself deleted entirely after 6 months.
Legal bases
- Providing the service: performance of our contract with you.
- Preventing fraud and keeping the service secure: our legitimate interests. This covers permanent redeemed-code, licence-key and order-record retention.
- Newsletter: your consent, requested separately and withdrawable at any time.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability.
To delete your account or exercise any of these rights, email support@cggeneral.net. We handle these requests manually and will respond within one month.
When an account is deleted, the account record is permanently deleted. Consultation, credit, redeemed-code, licence-key and feedback-submission records are anonymised, your account identifier is removed, and the remaining records follow the retention periods above.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
International transfers
Your account data is stored in the United Kingdom.
Some data is transferred outside the UK to the providers listed above:
- Anthropic (United States) receives consultation data. Anthropic's Data Processing Addendum incorporates standard contractual clauses.
- Resend (United States) receives your email address and your message when you send us feedback. Resend is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and publishes a Data Processing Addendum.
- Lemon Squeezy processes your payment details as an independent merchant of record; its own privacy policy governs that data.
Children
CG General is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will update this page and change the date above.
